About Burros for Heroes
Our Story
Burros for Heroes Foundation, Inc. was created from a simple belief: people and animals can help each other heal.
The foundation is being built in Eastern Kentucky as a peaceful place where Veterans, families, first responders, recovery partners, community members, volunteers, and rescued animals can find connection, purpose, and calm.
Burros for Heroes is not about pressure, noise, or performance. It is about creating a welcoming place where people can slow down, breathe, reconnect, and experience the quiet trust that can grow between people and animals.
The mission is rooted in service, humility, responsible animal care, and the belief that steady presence can make a real difference for people carrying stress, grief, transition, trauma, recovery, or isolation.
Why Burros
Burros do not rush trust. They respond to patience, calm, consistency, and respect. Those same qualities are at the center of the Burros for Heroes mission.
Their steady nature helps create an environment where people can pause, lower their guard, and connect without pressure. For many, that simple moment of peace can matter deeply.
