Bill Rogers
Founder Bio
Bill Rogers is the Founder and President of Burros for Heroes Foundation, Inc. He is a retired U.S. Army Combat Veteran, husband, father, and the driving force behind the foundation’s mission.
He served 20 years in the United States Army, with deployments and assignments that included Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Qatar, Pakistan, and Korea. His military career placed him in demanding environments and gave him a firsthand understanding of the pressure, sacrifice, and long-term impact that service can carry.
Over the course of his career, he spent nearly half of his military life away from home. That experience shaped his belief that support for Veterans must also recognize the families who carry the weight of service beside them.
Burros for Heroes was created from that understanding. The foundation is being built as a serious, mission-driven nonprofit centered on humble service, steady animals, responsible care, outdoor connection, and whole-family support.
Bill also understands the challenges facing Eastern Kentucky, including the impact of addiction, isolation, mental health struggles, and limited support systems in rural communities. His goal is to build Burros for Heroes carefully and responsibly, with a focus on Veterans first while also creating room for families, first responders, recovery partners, community members, and rescued animals.
For him, the mission did not end with military retirement. It simply changed form.
