Our Mission

Humble Service, Steady Animals, and Meaningful Connection.

Burros for Heroes Foundation, Inc. serves Veterans first through peaceful connection, purposeful outdoor experiences, responsible animal rescue, and the steady presence of burros. We bring Veterans, families, first responders, recovery partners, community members, volunteers, and rescued animals together through trust, purpose, and the belief that those who have been rescued can help others find peace.

Burros for Heroes was born from the belief that some wounds are carried quietly, long after the uniform comes off and long after life is supposed to feel normal again. Many Veterans, families, first responders, and others who have carried hard things do not need noise, pressure, or empty words. They need a reason to slow down, a place to breathe, and a steady connection that asks nothing from them but presence. Sometimes healing begins beside a humble animal, in a quiet moment, when the weight feels a little lighter and taking the next step feels possible.

Veterans are the heart of this mission. As Burros for Heroes grows, we also welcome those connected through service, recovery, community, and care.
