Korra

I got my golden doodle, Korra, during one of the hardest seasons of my life. My Mamaw was my best friend. She was in her final days fighting cancer, and I was caring for her during the day so my Papaw could keep working. Knowing the inevitable heartbreak ahead, I decided I needed a friend to help me through it. That’s when Korra came along.
She was just a puppy, and almost immediately after bringing her home, she fought for her life against parvo. After a terrifying week in the vet clinic, Korra pulled through! Not long after she came back home, my Mamaw passed away. In the blurry grief of those first few weeks, Korra became my anchor. Unlike a typical hyperactive Goldendoodle, she had an incredible way of matching my energy. If I wanted to rest, she would just snuggle, but when I was ready to move, she was ready to play.
Since then, we’ve been inseparable. You’ll rarely catch me anywhere without her. She is the ultimate outdoor partner. She is obsessed with swimming, kayaking, hiking, and camping.
These days, Korra has a new favorite role, big sister. Watching this adventurous dog instantly transform into the gentlest guardian for my daughter, Eden, has been amazing to watch. Korra started out as my lifeline, and now she’s the heart of our whole family.
